SAN DIEGO (May 26th, 2017)- Strategic Business Communications Inc. (SBC) is honored to announce its thirtieth year as one of the top executive training companies in San Diego, California, according to the San Diego Business Journal. As the recession hit small businesses in 2008, SBC has been able to maintain and expand its clientele across United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. The company commemorated their anniversary by hosting a party at their new office in Poway on their founding date of May 19, 1987.

Before SBC, the company began as Holmes/McKee Associates (HMS), primarily focused in the automotive industry. At the time, they specialized in technical training which included sales, service and parts. By 1987, Steve McKee took over as sole shareholder of the company and rebranded it as SBC, Inc.

“I wanted it to be clear that we were no longer doing technical training,” said McKee, founder of SBC, Inc., in an interview.

“That’s why I formed the new corporation. I was solely invested in delivering management, sales and customer satisfaction training.”

He began to develop training seminars for sales managers in the automotive industry in Southern California with companies like Honda, Volvo, Subaru and Honda.  Since most of his business came from the auto industry, it became the main focus of the company.

In 1995, SBC crossed the US border to be the first company to deliver training to Honda dealer principals in Mexico and eventually Honda distributors in the Caribbean, Central and South America. It was also at that point that Jaime “Jim”Hernandez joined McKee as Vice President.

“If you’ve never worked in a dealership in a management capacity, you couldn’t handle the questions asked. Unless you’ve been through the trenches, you couldn’t give the seminar because you’d lose credibility,” answered McKee when asked about the challenges of delivering training in Spanish speaking countries.

“That’s when Jim came in because he understood the auto industry, spoke Spanish and was an excellent presenter.”

Jim brought an extensive background in the auto industry. He started as a salesman who quickly made his way up to be a manager at Toyota and a General Sales Manager at a Honda dealer.

By 2006, Hernandez and McKee integrated a meeting and event planning department to SBC. Since then, SBC has managed thousands of corporate events for clients throughout North and South America.

“I am very grateful for our excellent event planning staff which has helped us (SBC) continue our growth. It is remarkable to see the continued standard of excellence the team holds. Our clients are always thrilled doing business with us and we hope to continue that for the decades to come,” answered Hernandez in an interview.

As of today, SBC continues to offer its clients event planning services, sales and marketing training, and consulting in more than 20 countries. The company has also expanded to offer customer satisfaction and NPS research.
